Two women have organized a new drill team based in Burlington City, called the Dazzling Diamond Renegades.

The newly formed group, with members from Burlington City and Willingboro, was organized about three weeks ago. Members practice every day, and are preparing for their first parade and competition Saturday.Drill teams learn complicated routines that involve marching, arm movements and different formations. The team is usually accompanied by drummers who keep the beat.

Tawanna Best, who lives in Burlington City, organized the drill team along with Colleen Hampton of Willingboro.

 “I figured I’d start something for the neighborhood, to give the kids something to do,” Best said.

She said there is a drill team in Pemberton, but nothing nearby.
